![]() ![]() It won't feed ammo, nor will it lock the bolt back on an empty chamber. The major downside is, the magazine follower and spring are either broken or missing entirely, and I don't know enough about Mauser c96's to tell for certain either way. I didn't have a light with me to inspect it, but from what I could see in the bore the rifling appears to be very, very faint, almost gone. The hammer drops when I pull the trigger, the safety appears to function properly, and the firing pin seems intact. The grips are black plastic or bakelite and worn but serviceable. The Wafenfaubrik Mauser stamp is intact on the opposite side. It appears to have been refinished at some point, covering over some minor pitting in one spot on the left side. This, I thought, must be too good to be true. In an out-of-the-way pawn shop, I found a bolo Mauser c96 for $375. So, first thing I did was hit all the gun shops in town. I got a refund check from my college today. ![]()
